Rep. Rich McCormick, R-Ga., told Newsmax on Wednesday that House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., needs to represent the will of the House members who elected him and that a future speaker needs to be proactive rather than reactive with bringing legislation to the floor.
McCormick said on “Finnerty” that Johnson has not reached out to him despite him being on the fence.
“I mean, I know he’s talking to the president. I know he keeps on saying, look, we got to see what the president wants, but that’s what a speaker is for, is to chart a way forward as the speaker of the legislative branch. He’s not a speaker for Trump. He’s a speaker for us. We’re the people who elect him. He has to be accountable to us.”
