Rep. Franklin to Newsmax: D.C. Crash – Helicopter Should’ve Moved

The Blackhawk helicopter, involved in the crash with an American Airlines flight on Wednesday, had the maneuverability to move out of the jet’s landing path, veteran Naval aviator Rep. Scott Franklin, R-Fla., told Newsmax.

Franklin told “Saturday Agenda” that the American Airlines jet would have had an alert system onboard known as TCAS, or the Traffic Collision Avoidance System, to warn of nearby aircraft.

Franklin suggested that the pilots of the American Airlines flight, if the TCAS system did go off, may have interpreted it as a false positive given how congested airspace is around Washington D.C.
