EU Official: No Greenland Negotiations

The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, announced Monday that Europe would not be “negotiating” with the United States over Greenland, The Hill reported.”We are not negotiating on Greenland,” Kallas said at a press conference in Brussels.

“Of course we are supporting our member state, Denmark, and its autonomous region, Greenland,” she continued, “but we shouldn’t also go into speculation about what-ifs, because this is not the situation right now.”

Kallas’ comments came shortly after her meeting with other EU foreign ministers. She would not confirm whether Trump’s interest in Greenland was directly discussed during the meeting but noted that the ministers deliberated on the broader relationship between the EU and the U.S. under the new administration.
