At least 15 people were killed and dozens injured in the early hours of New Year’s Day after a vehicle plowed into a group of revelers on New Orleans’ famous Bourbon Street before he was killed in a shootout with police.
“We do know that the city of New Orleans was impacted by a terrorist attack,” Mayor LaToya Cantrell said, adding that she was in contact with the White House.
The FBI, which initially contradicted the mayor’s terrorism assessment, later Wednesday reported that the supect was killed and said the incident was being probed as an “act of terrorism.”
